After an intense Course des Caps around the British Isles, the Team Malizia crew finally had a couple of days to catch their breath. With a solid fourth place finish, a few much-needed nights of sleep, warm meals on steady ground and, for some, huge jugs of ice cream (we’re not naming names, they were well-deserved), it's time to look back at the race. Good news is that onboard reporter Flore thankfully didn’t break any bones during her fall and is now recovering well. Raised near London, Will didn’t grow up by the sea but discovered his passion for sailing early on, learning on small dinghies at local reservoirs. His parents introduced him to the sport, and he quickly caught the racing bug through the British Sailing Team, competing across Europe and beyond.

We’re super excited to welcome Cole Brauer to Team Malizia as co-skipper starting this season 2025. Cole made history last year as the first American woman to sail solo non-stop around the world during the 2023-24 Global Solo Challenge. After a short but freezing delivery, complete with dolphin escorts, our beloved boat has returned to her home harbour, Lorient. What’s next? The Yacht Club de Monaco (YCM) is set to write a new chapter in its sporting history as it prepares to compete for the first time in the Admiral’s Cup, one of the world’s most prestigious sailing competitions. Team Malizia will play a key role in this challenge, with the Monegasque crew including Pierre Casiraghi, our team founder and Vice-president of the Club, Boris Herrmann and Will Harris. Cole Brauer, who is being mentored by Boris through The Magenta Project will also join the crew.

This Wednesday night, Boris Herrmann crossed the finish line of the Vendée Globe 2024-2025 in 12th place at 23:18 CET after 80 days, 10 hours, 16 minutes and 41 seconds at sea. Today, the Team Malizia skipper got to celebrate this great achievement and experience the iconic and emotional channel passage with his team and the cheering crowds of Les Sables d’Olonne.

Now sailing in very rough weather conditions in the Bay of Biscay, Boris Herrmann is expected to cross the finish line in Les Sables d’Olonne this evening or during the night. Due to the weather, he will cross the virtual ‘storm line’ and we don’t know yet when Boris will be able to enter the channel. Get ready to follow the arrival.

Not An Easy Week Ahead - Day 72 - Vendée Globe

Day 71 of the Vendée Globe, and it’s not getting any easier for Boris Herrmann as he faces challenging conditions with his damaged foil. Boris’ main focus is on getting home safe and sound. The broken foil presents a significant challenge, slowing him down, especially on starboard tack. He is sailing carefully, knowing he may face strong winds ahead, possibly up to 50 knots near the finish, requiring caution. For now, it’s about managing the boat and taking things day by day. Despite the setbacks, Boris’s resilience and determination to finish the race remain unwavering.

One Day At The Time - Day 71 - Vendée Globe

After discovering significant damage to his port foil yesterday, Boris Herrmann successfully managed to keep the foil onboard Malizia - Seaexplorer by retracting it into the boat and securing it with a rope system. As he continues his Vendée Globe race, Boris faces another week at sea ahead of him. Let’s hope for smooth sailing in the days to come.
